Rose Hill Cemetary
This old cemetery is located within the Black Diamond Mine regional park. Dating back to the 1800's, this Cemetery served the old mining communties in and around Somersville/Antioch.

Sarah Norton, a midwife in her time, is said to haunt the cemetery. She apparently died when her carriage over turned on her way to help with a delivery.

Nowadays, this Cemetery is only accessible by trail, and is part of the East Bay Regional Park District. We would love to see more of this Cemetery at night! Unfortunately it is really only pratical to visit it by day, while the park is open. We looked into the overnight camping available with the Black Diamond Mines Regional reserve, and found it is miles from the camp site. The trails are only accessible by foot, as cars and bikes are forbidden in most of the park.

We are still working out the logistics of possibly visiting this Cemetery at night, and will keep you posted if we get the chance to do so.

Rose Hill is situated on a bluff with an expansive view of much of the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. It was quite a walk to this Cemetery, but all of these pictures and spectacular views made it quite rewarding.
